What’s new to iMaths in 2013?

28/2/13

The start of a new school year is always exciting for students, as they familiarise themselves with their new teacher, class and work. You’ll also be excited about the new year when you hear about the additions we’ve made to iMaths in 2013.

Those teachers with classes in Foundation to Year 6 will love the new and improved iPlanner, which you may have already started using to plan your program.

The iPlanner is an interactive tool that allows you to quickly and effectively plan your entire year in iMaths. It keeps track of what you have taught, what you have left to teach, and can be adjusted at any time to suit the changing needs of your class. The iPlanner will ensure you have the time and space you need to teach all the Topics necessary to cover the curriculum. To get started, watch our iPlanner Tutorial to see how easy planning can be.

Teachers of Year 7 in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia rejoice; there’s now a full iMaths 7 program for your classrooms too.

The Year 7 program is specifically tailored for students preparing to transition into secondary school the following year, while building on the concepts that are taught throughout previous years. Year 7 students work through a linear program which, as usual, includes great iMaths Investigations.

Also available to Year 7 teachers are Topic Notes. Topic Notes are unique to Year 7 and have been created to assist with the teaching and learning of the advanced maths concepts covered in this transitional year. Each of the 52 Topics in iMaths 7 has an associated Topic Note page that provides in-depth explanations of maths concepts and step-by-step examples of working. Topic Notes can be printed out for students reference or projected in the classroom.

Late last year we were very busy creating new Online Tutorials. These short videos will help you use all the exciting aspects of the iMaths program.

You can watch these tutorials on our Teacher Support page along with the iMaths Online Virtual Tour which shows you everything you need to know about the online aspect of the program.

Of course, across all year levels we are continually striving to support you as teachers by updating our Teacher Support page with videos, articles and information.

Please let us know what you would like to see, or if there is something that would make your life easier.
