Writing Time Online is the perfect complement to the Student Practice Books. Available in all Australian fonts, there’s a range of tools and resources to support your students’ handwriting adventure. Best of all, access is free!

Here’s a guide on how to make the most of your handwriting lessons with Writing Time Online.

Projectable and interactive tools
3Ps

Project the 3Ps to model correct posture, paper position and pencil grip. These easy-to-follow pictures and tips help students to properly prepare for the handwriting lesson ahead.

See & Trace and Blank Lines

Project the See & Trace tool to demonstrate handwriting examples, letter formation and common joins. Alternatively, write your own words and sentences on the whiteboard using the projectable Blank Lines tool. Both of these interactive tools give you flexible options to zoom, adjust line settings or use Archie the owl to demonstrate head, body and tail letters.

Get students to log in to writingtimekids.com.au to practise letters and joins with the See & Trace tool on their iPads or other tablets.

Music

Jazz up your lessons in the lower years with the catchy tunes at Writing Time Online. Songs are available for each of the Hero Lines that represent the most common handwriting line types. For example, go to Music and select The Wave Song, then sing along to ‘The waves in the sea go whoosh and whoosh’ with your class while performing the ‘whoosh’ wave movement with your fingers.

Copying from Afar

In the upper years, Copying from Afar activities are included in the Writing Time Student Practice Books. Project the corresponding Copying from Afar passage for students to complete the exercise.

Worksheets

For students who need extra letter formation practice, you can select the relevant year level and print off worksheets for specific letters, groups of letters or join types. Or, for general handwriting tasks, print out the Slope Card or Blank Lines worksheets.

Assessment

Assessment is a breeze with the Writing Time Online Assessment resources. Print the Assessment Guide, Observational Checklist and Student Assessment Profile to assess your students’ handwriting development as they journey through the Writing Time Student Practice Books.
